The Felsenberg GG smells and tastes as breathtaking as this famous vineyard looks, aromas of smoke, spring meadow herbs, lime and orange pouring from the glass. In spite of the exceptional concentration, ripeness and silkiness that this great vintage has given it, the wine is both refreshing and refined. The considerable tannins give it excellent structure and are beautifully integrated, the balance already near to perfection. Whoever has patience will be putting a real treasure in their cellar!

Schlossböckelheimer Felsenberg

Tightly clasped between the river and rugged cliffs the Felsenberg looks exactly how experts around Planet Wine imagine great German vineyards to be. This extreme location with optimum southerly exposure is a real “Riesling greenhouse”. The stony soil is scree from the volcanic rock faces above the vines, the red-grey melaphry rock warming easily. All this gives the wines a combination of great ripeness and deep spiciness. You have to get the picking date just right though to retain the freshness necessary to mobilize the great mineral potential of this world-famous vineyard.

Excellent with strongly flavored poultry like guinea hen, partridge, pheasant, wild duck or goose. Alternatively, serve with high quality pork from a heritage breed. Roasted beets and other root vegetables are also excellent. Spicy East Asian dishes are no problem, but younger vintages are better suited to these than mature ones.
